Physical Therapy in Kula, Maui.

In-home care that comes up the mountain to you, for Upcountry residents who want to keep hiking the slopes of Haleakalā, keep working their land, and keep doing the everyday things without pain getting in the way.

01 / SERVING UPCOUNTRY

We bring the clinic to your door.

Island PT is a mobile, in-home practice, and Kula is part of our Upcountry Maui service area. Instead of asking you to make the drive down the mountain to a clinic, Teddy comes to you, equipment and all, and works with you right where you live on the slopes of Haleakalā.

That matters more than it sounds. Up here, the real challenges show up in your own environment, the slope of your driveway, the steps into the house, the way you move around the garden or the barn. Seeing that first-hand is how we build a plan that actually fits your daily life.

02 / WHO WE HELP IN KULA

For an Upcountry life.

Kula living is hands-on and active, hiking the cooler trails near Haleakalā, tending gardens and farms in the rich Upcountry soil, managing property, and staying on your feet across hilly, uneven ground.

A lot of what we treat up here comes from that lifestyle, low back pain from bending and lifting in the garden, knees and hips from hiking and working on slopes, rotator cuff and shoulder strain from property and ranch work. We also help residents who want to hold onto their balance, strength, and independence on terrain that does not forgive a stumble.

Whatever brought you to us, the approach is the same: take the time to understand the root cause of the problem, then build you back so you can keep doing the things Upcountry life is built around.

Common reasons Kula calls
  • Low back pain from gardening and lifting
  • Knee and hip strain from hiking and slopes
  • Rotator cuff and shoulder wear from ranch work
  • Balance and stability on uneven ground
  • Staying strong and independent with age

Common focus areas: Low back pain · Knee osteoarthritis · Hip pain · Rotator cuff injury · Achilles and calf strain · Balance training

03 / WHY KULA

Care that fits the mountain.

Fewer, longer, more focused visits, brought up the mountain to you.

Getting to quality physical therapy from Upcountry usually means a long drive down and back, over and over, for appointments that never seem to wrap up. Island PT flips that. We come to you, and we build a plan around fewer, longer, more focused visits that are designed to finish.

You get the full attention of a Doctor of Physical Therapy for the whole session, on a schedule that works around your day rather than eating half of it in traffic on the way to the coast.

What that means in practice
  • We travel Upcountry to Kula, no drive down for you
  • One-to-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit
  • Focused 6 to 8 week treatment plans designed to finish

Do you travel Upcountry to Kula?

Yes. Island PT is a mobile, in-home practice. Kula is part of our Upcountry Maui service area, and Teddy brings the equipment up the mountain to you, so there is no drive down to a clinic and no waiting room.

What do you treat most Upcountry?

In Kula we see a lot of low back pain, hips, knees, and rotator cuff strain from hiking, gardening, and property or ranch work, plus balance and strength concerns in residents who want to keep their independence on hilly terrain.

How long is the first visit?

The first evaluation runs about 90 to 120 minutes. That time lets us understand your history, watch how you actually move around your home and land, and find the root cause instead of just chasing the symptom.

Do you take insurance?

Island PT is a cash-pay practice. It is what lets us come to you Upcountry and spend real, unhurried one-to-one time on your care, without billing quotas shaping the plan. Our Why Cash-Pay page walks through the details.
